Nick Philbedge
Nick’s original and often impressionistic images combine his passion for photography and the sea, often shallow free diving with one breath of air, to create these beautiful and timeless aqua marine Seascapes.
The underwater pictures are full of colour and vibrancy, many in seductive blues and aquas revealing unseen underwater landscapes with fish swimming as one or a patterned shoal. They evoke a wonderful, timeless tranquillity of being at one with the water where no one day is ever the same. Many of the images have taken a long time to create, due to light conditions, clarity of the water, not to mention seeking the elusive fish whilst still relying on the one breath of air ! Though originally photographs, the pictures do not necessarily have a photo real look but an impressionistic feel.
Nick Philbedge is a commercial photographer and working artist living and based in Salcombe, Devon with his wife and three children. Always captivated by photography, sailing and the sea, he studied photography at Plymouth College of Art & Design where he pursued his passion for photography not only above but also below the water.
